Great Results

As most of you already know my results were very positive from my CT Scan.  My oncologist won't say I'm in remission and he won't say I'm cancer free.  What he will say is that my CT Scans currently show no signs of cancer.  Know what?....I'll take it.

Same day I got my results my nutritionist also cut my "tube" hours down to 10 hours a day which means I can basically plug in at night and unplug first thing in the morning.   It is soooo nice to not have to be attached to a backpack all day long, the freedom wonderful.  It's great to be able to go to the grocery store,  even church, and not have to be wearing that backpack.  I know I should not care what other people think about me but even though I try not to care it is difficult.  People look at you, look at the backpack and the tube snaking it's way from the pack on my back around to the front and up my shirt. Sometimes it's just difficult to get the looks.  But I'll admit that I'd probably take a double look if I saw someone with the same setup as me, just to try and figure out what was going on.

Even more good new I was able to finally get my port removed.  Still have 6-7 stitches in my chest but they will be gone soon enough and getting rid of the port is a huge milestone for me.

Now I get to have 3 months off from Dr. visits, for the most part.  Between now and April I need to get an annual physical with my Primary Dr. and since I'll be turning the big 40 will be going for a mammogram too, lucky me.  So now my goal is to continue to gain weight, gain strength, get some muscle tone, and to start trying to find a job.  Not sure right now which one of these things is going to be the hardest.  I'll let you know :-)

The Waiting Game

1/11/12
So on Friday the 13th ( of all days) I need to go into MGH for a CT Scan.  I'm starting to get anxious about it I must admit.  I usually have good luck on Friday the 13th so I'm hoping that I will on this one as well.  The scan itself will be a piece of cake, but I need to wait 5 days for my results.  Of course I always try and be positive but as you can imagine a lot of ummm..well lets just call it "stuff" runs through your mind.

Did nothing today, the weather is not helping my mood or motivating me at all.  Tomorrow is going to be a long day. Down to one car again so in order to get into town tomorrow I need to drop hubby off at work, then of course for some strange reason my son does not have school so I need to take him to Grammie's before heading into MGH and I need to be there at 10:30 so this all needs to be done during rush hour.  Fun fun.  I looked at my paperwork today (yeah I've had it for a few weeks now) and realized I'm getting 2 scans...one on my abdomen and one of my chest and they both say no solid foods for 2 hours prior.  OK no problem I can certainly do that.  But they also say to drink lots of water prior to appointment then they expect you to drink the contrast mixture once you get there.  Seriously this just makes me laugh.  Last time I went the technician handed me two huge containers of contrast to drink.  I looked them in the eye and said "you realize I have no stomach right?  Not sure where you expect me to put all this".  Of course they just say ohhh do the best you can.  Just cracks me up.

Appointment went well today; even traffic was not that bad.  Just as I had suspected they tried to make me drink 2 huge bottles of contrast.  I actually surprised myself and was able to get a complete bottle down plus a little from the second one, not bad.  However, I did manage to pop another hole in my j-tube.  Nothing that a little electrical tape could not fix though.  I do not want to make another trip to the ER, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to avoid it.

Woke up this morning and my shirt was wet.  I assumed that the electrical tape was not doing it's intended job.  The tube was so clogged that the force was pushing the tube feeding mixture through the taped up hole.  Took me a good 1/2 hour to get the clog undone.  As long as I can keep the tube from getting clogged I think the tape fix will hold, fingers are crossed.  One day of waiting done.

Nothing helps pass the time more then cleaning your kids room.  Did not think about what my scan results would be for the 4 hours it took to clean his room.  I had no idea that legos are like rabbits and will multiply at an amazing pace.  Only 3 more days to wait.

What better way to pass more time then to have a wonderful visit with my girlfriend and her beautiful baby daughter.   Only need to wait two more days, not even a full two days really till I get my results.  My electrical tape "WT" j-tube is still holding up.  I need to call the GI Dr. to find out if they can replace it right in their office, maybe even get an appt for Wedneday as well so that I only have to drive into Boston once.  It should not be a big deal to have it changed out.  What I fear the most is having to get the stitches put in again to hold the tube in place.  I'm hoping they just tell me since it is still working I can wait to have it replaced.
